FAQs
Q: Is 1 KB equal to 1000 bytes or 1024 bytes? A: This tool uses binary (IEC) units where 1 KB = 1024 bytes, matching how operating systems report file sizes. Hard drive manufacturers use decimal (SI) where 1 KB = 1000 bytes, which is why a 1 TB drive shows as ~931 GB in your OS.
Q: Why is the stone unit not included? A: Stone is a British unit of weight (1 stone = 14 lb). It is commonly used for body weight in the UK and Ireland but is not widely recognized elsewhere. You can approximate it: divide pounds by 14.
Q: Can I convert between metric and imperial? A: Yes. Every category includes both metric and imperial units where applicable. Length supports meters, kilometers, miles, feet, and inches. Weight supports kilograms, pounds, ounces, and stone.
