Markdown covers most documentation needs with a dozen rules. The sample loaded above demonstrates every essential one: headings, bold and italic, links, lists, tables, and fenced code. Edit any line and the preview updates as you type.
| Element | Syntax | Renders |
|---|---|---|
| Heading | # Title | large heading |
| Bold | text | strong text |
| Italic | text | emphasized text |
| Link | label | clickable link |
| List | - item | bullet list |
| Table | | A | B | plus delimiter row | data table |
| Code | ```js fenced block | highlighted code |
| Task | - [ ] todo | checkbox |
| Feature | Status | Priority |
|:--------|:------:|----------:|
| Login | Done | High |
Left, center, and right alignment come from colon placement. Keep cells simple: nested pipes and block elements inside table cells behave inconsistently across renderers.
Open with three backticks plus a language, close with three backticks. The language hint drives highlighting and also documents intent for readers skimming source.
READMEs, changelogs, wiki pages, and GitHub issues all accept this syntax. Draft here, copy the HTML or the source, and paste into your target. When tables grow complex enough to fight the syntax, that is the signal to switch to real HTML.
For table heavy documents see Markdown Table Generator, or compare drafts with the Diff Checker.
Nothing you paste leaves this tab. Every tool runs entirely in your browser — no upload, no server, no account.
